We Are Bugging Out - But Where? Belize?

Tracye and I have been feeling like the Lord was going to move us.

Where? We did not know.

About 5-6 years ago this “itch to move” got under our skin. We started looking around to see where the Lord might lead.

We are ones who believe that if you are not moving your feet, how can God direct.

There is a website that we used to go to called “findyourspot.com” You take a pretty in depth test and then it spits out some places based on your responses to the test. It became a favorite site of ours. It was funny we Tracye would take the test and then I would. We would not share our answers, and see what common places came up. Many did in fact.

A place called Johnson City TN kept coming up in our tests. Looking more into it we liked what we saw, even took a recon. Got there and within 4 hours we knew this is not where God wanted us.

We have looked into Montana, Tennessee, Wyoming, Idaho, and all over Texas. We then looked outside the US. That is how we came upon Belize. We also looked into Mexico, and Panama.

Thing is that in all our looking, and I have not named half of the places we have looked. Belize keeps coming back to us. For one reason or another we kept scratching it off the list to find 2-4 months later Belize is back on the front burner again.

Belize will not go away until we do a recon. We have never done a recon because we had the kids, or did not have the money.

Well Our kids have now moved out and the “itch to move” has been hitting us hard.

One day out of the blue we got an email from someone who is selling 29 acres with just about everything any survivalist would want on their property. He was selling it for $300K. I mean you name it the property had it included. We thought that God dropped this in our lap. Well he did as a learning lesson.

Thing is that once again we were looking at Belize at the same time. Once again we pushed Belize to the back burner and pursued this property. We were praying and praying about this and it seemed that doors were opening for us and things were going well. That is until about a week before we are going on recon.

That is when we got an email telling us that they changed their mind, they did not want to sell.

Here the dream property presented itself and was yanked off the table.

We both were devastated. We know God wants us to move, but we just did not know where.

“God where do you want us to go?” That became our prayer in all of this being let down yet one more time.

Finally Tracye said “we need to go to Belize and find out one way or the other if that is where God wants us.”

Even though we talked about BZ all the time, I think we never really believed it.

Problem is that we never really submitted to it.

Well our kids are now out, that is a release. But we did not have the money. We do what we do because we love the Lord, we don’t do it for the $$.

I get a call from my mom and out of the blue they are sending us some money.  They sold one of their houses and they thought that since God blessed them with a good sale, they would like to share some of the blessing. Do you know that it was just enough to get the tickets and secure a place to stay? Talk about the Lord working.

Needless to say when I heard this my “jaw hit the floor.”

Mind you, this was about 48 hours or so after finally submitting to Belize .

We bought the tickets because we have a limited window of opportunity. We had the History channel come out and film for three days. We had to focus totally on getting the house in order, cleaned, ect. I then have some speaking engagements coming up in July and we did not want to be doing back to back travel. May 29 – June 6 was about the only time we could go. We jumped on it.

God has been preparing our hearts for a while now for this.

We just had to get to the point of submitting to the idea of living where we have always wanted to live, the Caribbean.
